Moldovan drivers with aggressive behaviour in traffic to be fined

Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/ - Drivers proving an aggressive behaviour in the road traffic will be fined, according to legislative amendments and completions published in the Official Journal of Moldova (Monitorul Oficial) on 28 April.
The draft’s authors said that the amendments were aimed at enhancing the road traffic security.
The document describes as aggressive behavior manoeuvres in the traffic groundlessly creating obstacles to the movement and which are detrimental to the rights of other participants in the traffic.
Drivers run the risk of getting a fine ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 lei and five penalty points or non-remunerated labour for the benefit of the community of 20-40 hours or with contravention arrest for a 15-day period, in all cases with or without the deprivation of the right to drive for a term from six months to one year.
The present amendments enter into force three months following the date of publication in the Official Journal.
Data by the Interior Ministry shows that about 90 per cent of the accidents occur because of the driver, for reasons of exceeding the speed limit, for being neglectful of the road signs and road surface markings and driving drunk.
