Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova has proved that it is a responsible partner in the process of implementation of the project on Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), financed by the European Union, Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic said today.
The project, Assistance for Moldova in Process of Implementation of DCFTA, was signed in 2014 for a three-year period and provided for a financing of 30 million euros, in particular for adjusting the national legislation to the European directives and transposition of the EU Acquis.
“We have passed the test of maturity in terms of fulfilling the commitments taken. Our goal for future is to implement the normative and legislative acts approved, create an environment based on competition and competence,” Octavian Calmic said. Calmic noted that he hoped that the European Union would provide Moldova with financial and technical support to back the reforms.
Head of the European Commission’s Delegation in Moldova Pirkka Tapiola described the project as successful, stressing that he was satisfied with the work carried out during this period of three years. The EU diplomat referred, in the context, to the increase in Moldovan exports to the European market, which reached a share of 65 per cent of all exports in 2016.
Over 50 European directives have been transposed in the national legislation in these three years. She also said that, in three years, 26 meetings of inter-ministerial sectoral groups had been organized, in order to work out draft laws in line with the EU Acquis.
The Agreement on financing the programme on support of the Free Trade Area was signed for the period March 2014 – April 2017.
