Moldova, Romania to work out joint plan on implementing projects on electricity, gas interconnection

Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - A joint plan on the implementation of the projects on interconnection of the electric energy and natural gas networks between Moldova and Romania will be worked out and enforced till 15 May 2017. Moldovan Economics Minister Octavian Calmic and Romanian Minister of Economy, Commerce and Tourism Mihai Tudose took a decision to this end in Ploiesti, Prahova count, Romania, on 27 April.
The Economics Ministry’s (ME) press service has said that the concerned decision was taken by the two officials following a joint analysis of the process of implementation of the two projects and was aimed at establishing concrete terms for each stage of implementation, the structures in charge of carrying out, etc. The two ministers said that project on interconnection on the natural gas segment was carried out according to the schedule and the gas pipeline Ungheni-Chisinau would be put into operation by late 2019.
In the context, the head of the administrative board of the National Company for Natural Gas Transport Transgaz, Ion Sterian, informed the two ministers that the action plan for the next period of the project would be discussed at a meeting of experts in Chisinau next week.
As for the inter-connection of electric energy transport networks, the economy ministers of Moldova and Romania found out by common consent that there was a delay of several months, first of all, because of a delay in terms of the carrying out of the interconnection’s technical project. In this respect, Mihai Tudose gave assurances that the Bucharest authorities would earmark 1.8 million euros needed to implement this project and present it till next mid-July.
