Moldova participates in multilateral platform, meeting of high officials of Eastern Partnership

Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - The 17th meeting of the Multilateral Platform No 1 on Democracy, Good Governance and Stability and a meeting of high officials of the Eastern Partnership took place in Brussels on 27-28 April 2017. Attending the events were representatives of the Eastern Partnership states, European institutions and European Union member states. The Moldovan delegation was led by Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Daniela Morari, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.   

The meeting of high officials was an opportune occasion to exchange opinions on the implementation of the provisions agreed upon in 2015 in the Riga Statement, as well as to set priorities and results expected in the context of the Eastern Partnership Summit, due in Brussels in next November.    

In this respect, special attention was paid to discussing proposals by the European Commission and European External Action Service from December 2016 on priorities and key goals due to be achieved within the Eastern Partnership during this year and till 2020.   

The discussions within the multilateral platform No 1 were focused on the prevention and fighting corruption, reforms in the justice sector, public administration reform, civil security, as well as the strategic communication.  

On the sidelines of the events, Deputy Minister Daniela Morari had bilateral meetings with representatives of the European Commission’s Directorate General for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, as well as with members of the Office of the European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality.
