Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ – The parliamentary majority today rejected the simple motion initiated by the Socialists against the Minister of Education, Corina Fusu.
According to the motion producers, the ministry promotes bad policies and teachers still receive insufficient salaries. “The Ministry of Education is doing its best to destroy the education system through the liquidation of schools and kindergartens. It is also paradoxical to raise wages for teachers by 100 lei. We request to increase the remuneration of the education system employees and the review of the curriculum by introducing the history of Moldova instead of the history of Romanians.”
Also, the Communist MP, Elena Bodnarenco, said that, “about 370 schools were reorganized or closed in recent three years, and the ministry has no capacity to effectively solve the system problems, including good pay and feeding of children”.
During the presentation of the report, the Minister of Education, Corina Fusu, described the MPs’ accusations as unreasoned. "The Ministry takes measures to increase salaries of employees of educational institutions. In this regard, the Government has set up a committee to discuss this problem. Also, we are working now on a performance-based payroll mechanism, which means that teachers will be paid on the basis of the number of pupils and their results," said Education Minister Corina Fusu.
After debates, the simple motion against Education Minister was rejected by plenary of the Parliament, as a result of the insufficient number of votes.
