Diaspora Excellence Groups launched in Moldova

Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister’s Office, State Chancellery, Diaspora Relations Office (BRD) and International Organisation for Migration Mission to Moldova launch a new government program – Diaspora Excellence Groups (GED) for Moldovan citizens from abroad.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the programme will contribute to creating a cooperation mechanism between the government institutions and highly qualified experts from diaspora on five priority areas for the development of the Republic of Moldova, including social, economic, justice, civil society, environment and rural development.
GED members will be selected following a competition of CVs and draft policy proposals for the five priority areas. After selection, each GED consisting of two experts, Moldovan citizens from abroad, will work out public policy initiatives/proposals along with the premier’s advisers until August 2017. The policy proposals will be presented during Diaspora Days 2017.
The work of the Diaspora Excellence Groups will be financially supported by the IOM Fund, and the results of this pilot programme will serve as a basis for extending the new mechanisms of active contribution of diaspora in Moldova, as well as absorption of expertise/ advanced technologies by the public institutions needed to reform them.
