Photo exhibition open to Moldovan parliament on World Press Freedom Day

Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/- A unique photo exhibition is open to the parliament on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day. It is the first exhibition of photographers accredited to the parliament, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The exhibition entitled: “Parliament. Europe. Democracy” includes 67 unprecedented, colorful and black and white images, carried out in 1996-2017. The documentary images capture unique moments in political and social life of the country, various events and actions taken in parliament, including the 7 April 2009 and 20 January 2016 protests in front of parliament.
The images were made by 11 photographers from the print and online press: Constantin Grigoriță, Andrei Mardari, Doru Dumitru, Mihai Vengher, Elena Covalenco, Mircea Zatușevschi, Vladislav Culiomza, Eduard Bîzgu, Aurel Obreja, Svetlana Ursu and Nicolae Cebotari.
“Photojournalism has always been the authentic expression of press freedom. Photos not only inform, but also document the most relevant episodes of our reality, keeping them for the future”, the message of the event organizers reads.
The exhibition was carried out following an initiative of the parliament, being a recognition of the importance the parliament pays to the good collaboration with media and freedom of expression.
The exhibition will be open on 3-10 May 2017 and then the photos will be displayed in the territorial offices of parliament in Orhei, Edinet, Leova and Comrat.
Over 300 journalists are currently accredited to the parliament.
