Moldovan PM thanks authorities for contribution to earmarking new IMF loan's installment

Chisinau, 03 May /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip congratulated all those who contributed to the IMF's approval of the first evaluation of the Program for Moldova, at the beginning of Government meeting today, which made it possible to allocate the second loan tranche to Moldova worth about $21.5 million, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
“Success is not just about financial assistance. More important is the attitude of the International Monetary Fund, including the issued press release, which shows very clearly the trends in the Republic of Moldova that we have been able to do so far and is a response to many ungrounded criticisms," said Pavel Filip.
On it, the Premier asked the authorities to mobilize further for total implementation the Reform Agenda, including as to fulfill all the commitments made under the IMF Agreement.
The Government and the IMF signed a Reimbursable Financial Assistance Agreement on 07 November 2016. As such, Moldova received a credit line of approximately $179 million, the first installment of $35 million being allocated immediately after the signing of the document.
According to IMF conclusions, presented after the first evaluation of the Moldovan Program, which was finalized on 28 April, the program agreed between the parties is implemented duly, the economic growth has returned and the authorities are focused on the sound management of the economy. Also, the financial-banking system rehabilitation continues, and the structural reforms are advancing.
