Academy of sciences hosts international conference dedicated to famous Moldovan composer

Chisinau, 04 May /MOLDPRES/ – The Institute for Cultural Heritage of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, organized the international scientific conference Universal Reverberations today, occasioned by the 80th birthday of composer Eugen Doga, Artist of the People, member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM), the honorary member of the Academy of European Science and Arts.

A photo exhibition by Eugenia Tofan at various events by Eugen Doga, both in Moldova and abroad, was opened before the conference.

"Eugenia Tofan expressed all her love in this exhibition. For me, the most beautiful music is the mother’s voice. All the sounds in my music come from above. Glory to the Lord that it has given me precisely to decipher these sounds and to put them on the portative," said composer Eugen Doga.

In his speech, first vice-President of the ASM, Ion Tighineanu, emphasized that Eugen Doga’s music penetrated into the deepest and most miraculous hiding places of our souls. He handed over the tribute to the gold medal "Scientific merit" of the first degree of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.

Interviewed by the agency, academician Gheorghe Mustea said he became a composer thanks to Eugen Doga. "He urged me to write music when I was playing the nails and recorded his music for the movie “Laututarii”. Thanks to the master's music, we have become known in the world," said Gheorghe Mustea.

At his turn, the director of the Institute of Cultural Patrimony of the Academy of Sciences Victor Ghilas stressed that for six decades Eugen Doga has been an active presence in the musical culture in Moldova and abroad and Moldovan Musical Union President Aurelian Danila stressed that the phenomenon Doga would also be appreciated by time-outs of various generations.

Eugen Doga was congratulated by the President of the Union of Musicians of Ukraine, Evgheni Savchuk, by the director of the Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau, Valeriu Matei, by the director of the “Crizantema de aur” (The Golden Chrysanthemum) Festival in Tirgoviste, Romania, Alina Mavrodin Vasiliu and other Culture and science people. The documentary/encyclopaedic film about Eugen Doga was presented during the event, designed by Flacara Film Studio Chisinau in 2013,.

Eugen Doga was born on 01 March 1937 in Mocra village, Ribnita district. He finished Music School "Stefan Neaga", Conservatory and Arts Institute “G. Musicescu” in Chisinau. He is the author of valuable works in the field of music, film and theater. He composed a symphony, “Primavara omenirii” (Spring of Mankind) and “White Rainbow” (Curcubeul alb), music for theater performances, more than 200 films, instrumental chamber pieces, romances, songs for children. Eugen Doga was awarded the State Prize Honorary “Artist of the People”, with the “Order of the Republic”, order “Steaua Romaniei” (the Star of Romania) as commander, with the order “Pentru Serviciul Credincios” (For the Faithful Service) (Romania), “Za zaslughi pered otecestvom” (For Merits before Motherland) (Russia.) The composer is the author of the famous waltzes in the film “Gingasa si tandra mea fiara” (My tender and sensitive beast), designated by UNESCO as the fourth musical masterpiece of the twentieth century.
