Moldovan PM, Prince Albert II of Monaco meet children's team of Zimbru football club

Chisinau, 5 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Prince Albert II of Monaco Principality today met the team of children of the Zimbru football club. The officials spoke to children about benefits of practicing team sport and opportunities football can provide, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

Pavel Filip voiced confidence that, by their example, the young footballers would be able to attract more children to this sport, stressing that football develops the most important qualities in people. “Here, you learn that one cannot do anything by him/herself and must work in a united team in order to get results. Also here, you learn that there are not only victories, but also defeats, which you overcome and which help you draw conclusions,” the prime minister said.      

At the same time, the PM showed confidence that this generation of football players had all chances to promote Moldova on the international football stage. “A sports team can do a lot for a country. You are the ones who will take country’s fame all over the world,” the prime minister said.    

For his part, Prince Albert II of Monaco Principality stressed that the young people of the FC Zimbru team were the future stars of football; His Highness encouraged the children to make efforts, in order to gain as many victories as possible. “I want to bring you greetings on behalf of the Monaco football club and I hope that we will come back here for a match between our teams,” the Prince said. In the context, the Prince of Monaco received an official invitation on beheld of the Moldovan Football Federation for a friendly match.

The young footballers gave the officials presents with symbols of the Zimbru club and, in the end of the event, Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Prince Albert II of Monaco Principality signed on the football balls due to be preserved at the Club’s Museum.  

Over 20,000 children practice football in Moldova and the Government’s Cup national tournament is annually organized for 13-14-year-old pupils.
