Moldovan speaker to visit Turkey

Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/- Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu met Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim, who is on a visit to Moldova, on 5 May. The officials discussed the development of bilateral relations, including at parliamentary level, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

Candu will pay a visit to Turkey in September 2017.

The officials approached the economic opportunities provided by the two countries and encouraged the business people to invest in economy of Moldova and Turkey. The bilateral trade was strongly boosted by the recent entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement between Moldova and Turkey.

The speaker noted that in the country the Turkish business community and investment is strong, which develops projects in various fields. The officials voiced hope that the Moldovan-Turkish business forum, due today in Chisinau, will increase the volume of Turkish investments in the country.

Candu pointed out that the communication with authorities in Gagauzia had improved, and this was a result of the activity of the working group between the Moldovan parliament and People’s Assembly. He said that the working group made efforts to find appropriate solutions to improve the legislation in the field, a number of projects being currently in the legislative procedure as regards the Gagauz region.

The meeting between the two officials is part of the events marking 25 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Turkey. Yesterday, the Embassy of Turkey was inaugurated in Chisinau.

Attending the event were also the chairman of the Turkey-Moldova Friendship Parliamentary Group, Anatolie Zagorodnii and head of the commission on foreign policy and European integration Valentina Buliga.
