Moldovan band to perform at Eurovision's semifinal today

Chisinau, 9 May /MOLDPRES/ - The SunStroke Project band will perform on the Kiev stage with the song, Hey Mamma!, at the Eurovision 2017 semifinal today.  

Eighteen countries will compete in the first semifinal and Moldova with be the 12th. The SunStroke Project band will fight for a place in final along with singers from Albania, Armenia, Australia, Belgium, Georgia, Poland, as well as from other countries. The second semifinal will take place on 11 May, when Romania’s representatives will sing with No 6. Moldova’s messengers consider that their main rival in the first semifinal is Robin Bengtsson from Sweden.  

The members of the band SunStroke Project rely on the support of the Scandinavian and Baltic countries, as well as on Moldova’s fellow countrymen from Portugal, Spain, Italy, etc. “When we supported a concert for the Moldovan Diaspora, everybody told us that they would convey to the relatives settled abroad to vote for us. We hope that it will be like this,” the band’s violin player, Anton Ragoza, has said in an interview.   

Another member of the band, Serj Ialovitski, said that, although those from Moldova would not be able to vote, our country’s representatives at Eurovision are expecting encouraging messages, appreciations on social networks.    

The total area of the Kiev complex hosting the Eurovision song contest is of 58,000 square metres and the stage is of about 750 square metres. The key slogan of the Eurovision 2017 is Celebrate Diversity and the contest’s logo is the traditional Ukrainian necklace.  

Forty two countries will participate in the 2017 issue of the Eurovision Song Contest, which will compete on 9 and 11 May. The great final of the contest will take place on 13 May.
