Today we mark the Victory Day and the one of commemoration of the heroes who died for the Motherland’s Independence. I avail myself of this occasion to pay homage to those who died and thank all veterans still alive for everything they have done for us. They are the ones who made possible peace and we are deeply grateful for this.
Today we also mark the Europe Day. The principal message of this holiday is the one of peace, wish of the nations from all over Europe to be members of a common area, to live together in harmony and good understanding.
Therefore, Moldova is presently marking a double holiday. This makes us stronger and more determined to fight for the values and ideals which animate the 9 May Day. Namely this day teaches us to never forget the lessons of the past and look with confidence in our future.
Dear veterans,
We express our full gratitude for your deeds, for the courage and sacrifice you proved. The Second World War was one of the greatest tragedies of the contemporary history, and we should never forget the lessons of this terrible war. And especially we must not forget those who contributed to its ceasing. Eternal memory to the dead heroes!”
