Moldovan, Czech officials approach bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, 10 May /MOLDPRES/- Strengthening the bilateral dialogue and identifying new cooperation areas were main topics discussed during a meeting between Prime Minister Pavel Filip and President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Milan Štěch, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
“The visit to the Czech Republic is a symbolic one, given that on 1 June we will mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, relations we consider to be very good. We are grateful for the constant support you give us in modernization and development of Moldova”, he said.
The officials exchanged opinions about the implementation of the reform program under the Association Agreement, opting for further promoting an agenda of actions focused on development of new perspectives for deepening the Moldovan-Czech cooperation. In this context, the premier appreciated the visionary approach of the Czech Republic in the Visegrad Group for the countries included in the Eastern Partnership, so as to give them the prospect of European integration.
Milan Štěch reiterated the Czech Republic’s willingness to further back Moldova in carrying out the reforms set under the European agenda: “We are willing to share our experience in elaborating legislative acts according to the European standards, so you can avoid the mistakes we have made in our European path”.
Another topic of the talks was related to the Transnistrian conflict settlement. The premier noted that it can be solved exclusively in the 5+2 format, where Ukraine, Russia and OSCE have the status of mediators, and the EU and USA – as observers. At present, the telephone interconnection between the two banks of the Dniestre, identification of solutions to admit in the international road traffic the cars registered in the Transnistrian region, apostille of the diplomas of Tiraspol higher education institutions are being discussed. The next stage is the start of the process of elaborating the special legal status of the Transnistrian region.
