Moldovan foreign minister attends meeting of nucleus group of Munich Security Conference

Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur participated in a meeting of the nucleus group of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) held in Washington, USA, on 8-10 May. Attending the event were also high-ranking state officials from several countries, current and former foreign ministers, people with reputation in diplomacy and international relations, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media relations service has reported.
The sides approached issues related to prospects for transatlantic relations, the role of the United States and Russia in international relations, the evolution of the situation in Eastern Europe and other geographical areas, the impact of misinformation and influence on world events, fight against terrorism and other international issues.
The Moldovan official pointed out the recent events on European continent, opting for overcoming as quickly as possible the feelings of uncertainty generated especially by Brexit and electoral cycles from a number of European countries that have a strong impact on the security situation and the prospects for solving the acute problems faced by Europe lately.
In the same context, Galbur highlighted the importance of the EU policy in the Eastern Partnership as regards maintaining political stability, enhancing security, ensuring reform processes and democratization, economic growth and modernising companies. He voiced hope that the Eastern Partnership Summit due in November in Brussels will be successful and will open new cooperation perspectives between EU and its Eastern partners. In the same context, Galbur declared for boosting efforts to resolve protracted conflicts, including by generating new political and economic incentives for states where outbreaks of conflict persist.
The Moldovan official reiterated the authorities’ firm decision to fully implement the structural reform agenda provided by the Association Agreement with EU and agreements reached with IMF to ensure sustainable social and economic development for Moldova.
