European Town inaugurated In Moldovan capital's centre

Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ – The European Union delegation to the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with the public authorities and the diplomatic missions accredited in Moldova, organized a new edition of the "European Town" in the Central Public Garden “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant” (Stephen the Great and Saint) in Chisinau.
The tents with EU-funded projects are installed within the "European Town", where visitors can learn about EU assistance to development of Moldova.
The event was attended by the head of the EU Delegation in Moldova, Pirkka Tapiola, Speaker, Andrian Candu, representatives of the public and central administration, diplomatic missions accredited in Moldova.
At his turn, Chief of the EU Delegation Pirkka Tapiola mentioned that on 25 March 2017, there passed 60 years from the Treaty of Rome, when the European Community was established, a commitment renewed by the EU Member States in 2017.
According to the official, the European Union was one of the largest economic powers in the world and was built on social foundations: peace, freedom, human rights, rule of law etc. "We will continue to support Moldova's economic reforms, to reach a level that will ensure a better future for you, for your children," said Pirkka Tapiola.
Speaker Andrian Candu thanked the EU Delegation for the organization of that European Town and for Moldova's support for economic development, stressing that Moldova was taking concrete steps to get closer to European values, so as to be stronger with EU.
Traditionally, the European Town will host a European Cultural Festival, which will be officially launched on 14 May at 13.00. Over the course of a week, the audience will have the opportunity to participate in a series of activities designed to provide an overview of European cultural diversity. The town’s visitors will be able to attend modern language lessons, listen to recitals of local and international music bands, watch movies and taste traditional European dishes.
The European Cultural Festival will end on 19 May with a concert presented by the Youth Orchestra and by watching film "My father and son" produced in Turkey.
