Moldovan foreign minister meets with Lithuanian counterpart

Chisinau, 14 September /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime Minister, Andrei Galbur, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, had a meeting with Lithuanian Foreign Minister, Linas Linkevičius, today, who is paying a working visit to Chisinau, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s public diplomacy service, strategic communication and interaction with the press has reported.
During the meeting, ministers discussed the whole bilateral Moldovan-Lithuanian agenda, aspects of political, commercial, economic and humanitarian cooperation. In particular, the interlocutors referred to the modernization process of Moldova by implementing the provisions of the Moldova – EU Association Agreement and the structural reforms.
Another topic of interest in the talks was the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict and developments in the "5+2" format negotiations. In this respect, Minister Andrei Galbur informed about Moldova's intention to promote the inclusion on the agenda of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly of an additional subject: The complete withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
The year 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Lithuania, and the visit of the Lithuanian diplomat to Chisinau goes within the series of events dedicated to its marking.
