Moldovan agricultural sector to benefit from support of International Finance Corporation

Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will receive support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for improving the business climate in the agricultural industry. In this respect, the cabinet today approved the ratification of a consultancy agreement between Moldova and IFC.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, under the agreement, the international organization will provide consulting services to Moldova on three priority areas, namely: improving the business environment, strengthening access to the market, focusing on the agro-industrial sector and increasing the protection of investments.
Thus, the support will focus on improving the administrative and institutional framework, analyzing and reviewing the legislative and regulatory framework, providing assistance in elaboration of policy documents and development strategies.
According to the agreement, the IFC will provide Moldova with technical assistance amounting to 3.2 million dollars, while the government’s contribution will be 160,000 dollars and the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure – 100,000 dollars.
Moldova became a member of the IFC on 10 March 1995.
