Head of International Association of Road Hauliers of Moldova detained for abuse of office

Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/- Head of the International Association of Road Hauliers of Moldova was detained for 72 hours in a case of abuse of office.
Chisinau Prosecutor Stefan Saptefrat confirmed the information. “The person was detained for abuse of office, namely, removal of the stamp and documents of the association. The suspect is investigated under article no.335 (1) of the Criminal Code”, Saptefrat said.
According to the Criminal Code, the above-mentioned article sees “deliberate use by a person who manages a commercial organization, assets of the organization for material or personal interest, causing damage to public interests”.
The article provides for a fine of up to 57,500 lei or imprisonment of up to 3 years, in both cases with deprivation of right to hold certain positions or to practice certain activities for a period of two to five years.
