Parliament speaker meets new EU ambassador to Moldova

Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/ – Parliament Speaker, Andrian Candu, expressed the determination of authorities to keep on the European path and modernization processes of Moldova according to the EU standards, commitments made to foreign partners and the citizens of Moldova at today meeting with Peter Michalko, Ambassador, Head of Mission of the Delegation of the European Union to Moldova, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The Speaker announced that one of the priorities of this session was parliamentary control over the laws’ implementation. "We need to track and evaluate the impact of the laws so to ensure that the adopted rules work and benefit people," said Andrian Candu.
The officials reviewed the main topics of the social-political agenda and expressed openness for dialogue and cooperation. Ambassador Peter Michalko mentioned the European Union's interest for Moldova and the support of reforms in it.
In this context, the Parliament Speaker mentioned the adoption of a new roadmap by the Government and Parliament in 2017, which sets the priorities and sets the terms for its implementation. Andrian Candu also reiterated his commitment to fulfilling the promises made in the Association Agreement.
