About one thousand citizens returned to Moldova in 2016 re-enrolled in workforce

Chisinau, 20 September /MOLDPRES/- About a thousand citizens returned to the country from abroad were re-enrolled last year in the workforce, according to data by the National Agency for Employment (AOFM).

Senior adviser in the Diaspora Relations Bureau Nadejda Zubco said that in 2016, 2,900 people returned to the country from abroad were registered at the territorial agencies, who benefitted from the employment services and protection in case of unemployment.

“Of the total number of citizens returning to Moldova, 20 per cent are women. At the same time, 40 per cent of those who returned home are aged between 30-40 years, 27 per cent – between 16-29 years old and 11 per cent – over 50 years. As in the previous year, most of citizens returned from Russia – 2,413 people (84 per cent), followed by Italy – 136 people (5 per cent), Czech Republic, Germany and Poland – 40 people (1 per cent). These are only people who addressed to the AOFM”, Zubco said.

On 8 September 2017, the action plan for 2017-2020 on reintegration of citizens returning from abroad entered into force. The document aims to develop programs and services for Moldovans returning to the country by providing the necessary support for reintegration. Among the actions envisaged in this respect are: improving school re-integration services, youth and elderly programs and employment measures. Other actions aim at promoting the possibilities to access the financial funds meant for Moldovans returning from abroad, implementing and diversifying the programs for attracting remittances to the development of the national economy.
