Moldovan PM meets European Council President

Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with President of the European Council Donald Tusk in New York on 20 September. The event was held in the context of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The premier noted that Moldova is focused on implementing the Association Agreement with EU and promoting reforms.
At the same time, the officials exchanged views on preparation for the Eastern Partnership Summit due in November 2017. Filip confirmed the major interest in this event and noted he would attend the meeting personally. “We want a successful Eastern Partnership Summit”, he said.
Filip asked for support from Donald Tusk and EU as a whole over the inclusion on the agenda of the UN session the issue on the withdrawal of foreign troops from Moldova.
For his part, Tusk said he backs Moldova’s European integration efforts and encourages the authorities to continue implementing reforms for the benefit of the citizens.
