Moldova attends events on migration, environment

Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii participated in meetings on migration and environment, held in New York, on the sidelines of the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the MAEIE's public diplomacy, strategic communication and media relations service has reported.

The meeting on "Policy Coherence and SDGs: Lessons from the Commitment to Development Index and Innovations in Migration", organized by the Center for Global Development and the Government of France, brought together representatives of UNDP, European Union, Denmark, France, Jordan, the Republic of Moldova etc.

Participants exchanged views on synergies between national policy in the field of migration and the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. In his intervention, Deputy Minister Darii shared the Republic of Moldova's experience in migration, mobility and development. He also mentioned the remittances attraction program "PARE 1+1", Diaspora participation in the development of the community of origin, the programs for migration and local development, as well as other successful experiences implemented within the Republic of Moldova-European Union Mobility Partnership.

At the Summit, hosted by the French President E.Macron, with the participation of UN Secretary-General A.Guterres, President of the UN General Assembly, M.Lajčák, and President of the European Council, D.Tusk, the initiative for a new Global Pact for the Environment was launched. This Pact is to serve as a basis for a new UN treaty to define fundamental environmental rights for humanity.
