Moldovan parliament maintains earlier vote for laws returned by head of state for reexamination

Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan parliament, at the first plenary meeting of the present autumn session, reexamined and maintained the earlier expressed vote for the laws returned by the head of state, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

Thus, the lawmakers backed the earlier voiced position on the law on energy, law on meal vouchers, law on the amendment and completion of the Labour Code, law on the prevention and fighting of terrorism, law on Moldova’s state distinction, as well as other three laws on the amendment and completion of legislative acts.  

According to the Article 93, paragraph 2, of the Constitution, the Moldovan president has right, if having objections to a law, to send it to the parliament for reconsideration, in a term of two weeks at the latest. If the parliament maintains its earlier adopted decision, the president promulgates the law.

Also, at the today’s meeting, the parliament approved, in the first reading, a draft for a ten-per cent increase in the office salaries of the budgetary sector employees, set in the single tariff network.

Under the draft, more than 120,000 employees from the institutions of education, culture and art, medical, sanitary and social assistance institutions, the ones of physical culture and sport, science and innovation sector will benefit from the increase. Also, the salaries of the military, policemen, employees of the national defence bodies, state security and public order will rise, with their remuneration made based on the single tariff network.  

The increase will be made starting from 1 September 2017 for the education sector employees and beginning with 1 January 2018 – for the wage earners from other fields. The draft is to be voted in the final reading.
