Disabled child care leave to last up to two years in Moldova

Chisinau, 10 November /MOLDPRES/ – The disabled child care leave will last up to two years, according to legislative amendments adopted by the Parliament in final reading today.
The document was supported by the vote of 69 Members.
The completions were made to the Labour Code of Moldova, where it was previously stipulated that the period of leave for caring for the disabled child was up to one year.
As such, the adopted document foresees the increase from one year to two years of the period of suspension of the individual labour contract, on the initiative of the employee, in case of care of a sick member of the family.
The changes are aimed to protect the interests of sick and disabled children and their parents.
Similarly, according to the info note attached to the project, it will have the effect of improving the situation of parents caring for sick children or children with disabilities, allowing them to keep their work for a certain period of time when children's health might improve and then return to work.
