Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ – The bypass road of Ungheni will be put into operation by the end of November 2017. "We are preparing a launch event. It is certainly going to happen in November," said in a press conference, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Octavian Calmic.
The launch date is due to be set because it ''is about synchronizing the agenda of the Ministry of Economy and Roads Infrastructure, but especially with the leadership of the European Union delegation in Chisinau, because this bypass road has been entirely financed by the European Commission’s grant to Moldova "Basically this road is ready, we are on the last elements of the infrastructure that need to be clarified and marking to be applied on the asphalt," said Octavian Calmic.
Previously, it was announced that the traffic on the bypass of Ungheni city would be opened starting 31October 2017. At the end of October, however, the Minister of Economy asked the European Commission for a delay in finalising the works, which were delayed due to bad weather conditions.
The construction of the Ungheni bypass road started in 2014. The road will shorten nearly 20 km to Vama Sculeni.
