Two works on violence prevention in educational institutions launched in Chisinau

Chisinau, 16 November /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research today launched “Methodological Guide on Violence Prevention in Educational Institution” and a collection of normative documents in child protection against violence in the education institution.
Attending the event were Minister of Education, Culture and Research Minica Babuc, representatives of central public administration, academic environment and civil society organizations in the field of child and family protection, specialists responsible for the protection of the child against violence within the local specialized institutions.
In her speech, Babuc said that the problem on preventing violence in educational institutions is quite important and complicated. The official noted that the UN report on violence against children states that in the world, every tenth pupil is subject to violence in school and this indicator increases every year.
In the context, Babuc said that both the guide and the collection will be helpful for the staff in educational institutions to prevent and combat the acts of violence.
Rector of the Ion Creanga State Pedagogical University Nicolae Chicus, director of the Child Rights Information and Documentation Centre Iosif Moldovanu, specialists in the child and family protection spoke out on the two works.
The guide was worked out by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research in collaboration with the Ion Creanga University and Child Rights Information and Documentation Centre in Moldova.
The two works have appeared in a circulation of 1,500 copies in Romanian and 500 – in Russian.
After launching the publications, the specialists in charge of child protection from violence within local specialized institutions participated in a training workshop on preventing violence against children and elaborating child protection policy in the educational institution.
