Moldovan PM, southern district local authorities discuss government's reforms

Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today discussed the main goals of the reforms promoted by the cabinet with representatives of the local public administration, economic agents, directors of education and medical institutions from the southern Cahul district, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Pavel Filip referred to actions undertaken by the government in the last two years to ensure stability in the society and re-position Moldova on the course of economic development. “Our efforts were not in vain. This year alone, after ten months, we have higher incomes to the budget by 4.2 billion lei against the last year. The customs collections grew by 2.2 billion lei against 2016,” the prime minister stressed.
At the same time, the prime minister stressed that the process of recovery of the money embezzled from the three banks continues. Till late November, the Kroll company is to present the second report. “This report will be unveiled along with a Strategy on recovery of assets, due to be implemented together with Moldova’s authorities,” the PM added.
Another reform, the prime minister referred to, is the one on measures friendly for a sound business environment. More measures have been taken so far to back the development of the business environment. Among them, there are: cutting the number of institutions with control duties; reducing the number of permissive acts and reports due to be presented to authorities; removing the compulsoriness of the stamp. The measures of improving the business environment continue as well.
The prime minister also referred to the reform of the pensions system, justice sector, local public authorities. These reforms are aimed at creating conditions, so that citizens have enough incomes and needed utilities for a decent living.
Touching upon the cabinet’s priorities for the next period, Pavel Filip highlighted the ensuring of the supremacy of law, creation of a modern and competitive education system, development of roads’ infrastructure. “Next year will be a year of construction sides and repair of roads. We want to fully use the financial resources provided by our development partners and the budget ones,” Filip noted. The PM also said that he wants Moldova’s European integration become irreversible through the measures taken.
During discussions, representatives of the local authorities put more questions and made proposals and suggestions to the cabinet. Among the main problems tackled, there are the bad management of natural resources in the region, low salaries in mayoralties, insufficient financing of schools, critical state of privatized objects, social assistance for categories in need. Prime Minister Pavel Filip promised that each problem would be analyzed separately, in order to identify the optimum solutions, in close cooperation with the local administration.
