Moldovan government, legislature establish guidelines for 2018

Chisinau, 6 February /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, and Parliament Speaker, Andrian Candu, chaired the first joint meeting of the Government and Parliament in 2018 today. There was analyzed implementation of the Roadmap on the Priority Reform Agenda and progress within implementation of legislative implementation programme of Moldova – EU Association Agreement within it. Also, the priorities for the year 2018 have been set, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister welcomed organization of such joint meetings, allowing synchronization of actions and greater accountability. Pavel Filip mentioned that due to joint efforts and parliament’s support, there were recorded important results during two years of term of the executive. In this context, it was recorded 4 per cent of annual growth, bank sector recovery, central public administration reform, pension reform and justice reform.
For 2018, as priority remains reform in the field of justice and ensuring the rule of law, modernizing education system and improving road and energy infrastructure. "Our ambition is to bring the natural gas interconnection to the European system, I refer to Romania and building of gas pipeline Ungheni – Chisinau," said PM.
Another segment on which the work of the Executive will focus is healthcare, in particular, hospital reform and primary medicine.
"I am absolutely sure that despite we are having an electoral year, we will succeed if we increase the speeds from the beginning of the year as to achieve more than before. The focus is on the first half of the year. You will find in the list of priority projects and conditionalities of Agreement for macrofinancial assistance of tranches two and three, we will do everything we can and unite our efforts so that they will be achieved by the end of the parliamentary session," said Pavel Filip.
The Speaker of Parliament said that the Legislature would continue to provide all necessary political support to carry on with reforms and promote new ones. "The quality of adopted laws and impact of their implementation is our goal in 2018. Parliament moves to a qualitatively new stage in parliamentary scrutiny throughout implementation of new ex – post evaluation mechanism. We will make a legal and impact assessment to ensure that the adopted laws have a beneficial effect upon citizens. We will also focus on implementation of the Roadmap for the Priority Reform Agenda, Plan for the Implementation of Moldova – EU Association Agreement and current Government Programme," said Andrian Candu.
As such, Pavel Filip and Andrian Candu were convinced that in 2018, the government and parliament would intensify their cooperation, so that to fulfill most of the undertaken commitments.
