Moldova's Parliamentary Council for European Integration has new composition

Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Parliamentary Council for European Integration has a new composition. The parliament’s standing bureau approved the amendments at a meeting today, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Andrian Candu will act as president of the Council and Deputy Speaker Valeriu Ghiletchi – as vice-president. The Council is made up of 18 members, the heads of the commissions and representatives of the parliamentary factions, the leadership of the Moldova – EU Parliamentary Association Committee and Moldova’s Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, as well the parliament’s general secretariat.
The goal of the Council for European Integration is to provide a mechanism of communication, coordination, consultation and cooperation in the process of Moldova’s European integration and of approximation of the national legislation to the EU one. The Council monitors the process of implementation of the Moldova – EU Association Agreement and ensures the enforcement of the legislative programme on fulfillment of the commitments on transposition, taken within the Association Agreement.
The Parliamentary Council for European Integration was set up by the parliament in April 2016. So far, the Council has been led by Deputy Parliament Speaker Iurie Leanca.
