Chisinau, Tiraspol political representatives sign protocol on veterinary, phyto-sanitary control

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - The political representatives on behalf of Chisinau and Tiraspol today signed a protocol on the establishment of mechanisms of cooperation in the field of veterinary and phyto-sanitary control, to ensure the food security. The political representatives in the process of negotiations for Transnistrian settlement, Cristina Lesnic and Vitaly Ignatyev, have made statements to this effect following a meeting in Chisinau.  

At a news conference, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic said that, during the meeting, the sides had discussed the implementation of the protocol decisions signed in November 2017.  

“We reviewed the achievements as to the enforcement of the provisions from the earlier signed protocols and established that positive developments had been recorded as to three of the five documents, I mean the reopening of the bridge between the settlements Gura Bacului and Bacioc, the work of the Moldovan Latin-script schools and apostilling acts. Another two subjects, on farmers’ access to their lands from the region and re-establishment of the phone connection, are underway, especially as all farmers prepared the acts and are ready to submit them,” Lesnic said.      

For his part, the political representative on behalf of the Transnistrian region, Vitaly Ignatyev, said that, also today, the sides had ruled that a meeting with the members of the working groups in the transports sector would take place next week. Subsequently, a joint meeting of all heads of sectoral groups will be organized.   

“We also decided that the working groups on the activity of banks and human rights will be re-launched. The political representatives have needed resources to contribute to the settlement of the social and economic subjects included on the agenda. Also today, we discussed issues remained from the past, I mean the subjects with the carrying out of which we are not contented and namely the ones dealing with the opening of the railway segment Slobodca-Rabnita and the quashing of some files. In continuation, we rely on an active communication and a transparent dialogue,” Ignatyev said.  

This is the first meeting of the political representatives on behalf of Chisinau and Tiraspol in 2018.
