Chisinau, 18 December /MOLDPRES/ - The teachers’ salaries will be increased by a percentage ranging between 7.6 and 15.2 per cent in 2025, depending on the teaching rank held. Thus, the increase will represent 758 lei at the most in the case of teachers who do not have didactic rank, 1,568 lei in the case of the teachers with the didactic rank II, 1,975 lei for those holding the didactic rank I and 2,106 lei for the higher teaching rank. Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun today unveiled data to this effect, after the government had approved a draft to this end.

„While in 2024, the salary of a teacher who did not have didactic rank varied between 8,568 lei and 10,022 lei, then after all changes which we will make, the salary for this category will vary from 9,200 lei to 10,780 lei.  So, against 2024, we talk about increases from 632 lei to 758 lei or of 7.4-7.6 per cent,’’ Dan Perciun said.

As for the teachers of the didactic rank II, the salaries in 2024 varied between 9,718 lei and 11,402 lei. In 2025, they will be between 11,025 lei and 12,970 lei, or an increase of 13.4-13.8 per cent.

In the case of the teachers with the didactic rank I, who in 2024 had a salary between 11,029 lei and 12,975 lei, in 2025, the salary will increase from 12,675 lei to 14,950 lei; so, it is about increases from 1,646 lei to 1,975 lei.

The holders of the higher teaching rank in 2024 had a salary varying between 12,570 to 14,824 lei, with all additional benefits. In 2025, they will have salaries ranging between 14,250 and 16,840 lei, with an increase from 13.4 to 13.6 per cent.

At the same time, the managerial ranks from which the headmasters of schools and kindergartens benefit will increase as well. ‘’They were be established in 2018 and represent 300 lei for the managerial rank II, 600 lei for the rank I and 1,000 lei for the higher managerial rank. The increases are from 300 to 1,000 lei, from 600 to 1,500 lei and from 1,000 to 2,000 lei, depending on the rank held,’’ Dan Perciun stressed.

Another action regards the increase from 52 to 56 of the classes of salary payment for methodologists and heads of the kindergarten circles.

„As compared to the budget in the first reading, when it was about a universal increase of about 7.4 per cent, now, we get to an increase of 15.2 per cent for certain categories, depending on the teaching ranks which they hold,’’ the education and research minister stressed.

Dan Perciun noted that 3 billion lei would be needed for a 35-per cent increase demanded by trade unions, ‘’which is equivalent to about three investments funds in roads or twice as much against the subsidization fund which we have in Moldova.’’ ‘’Obviously, it is real for us to identify these resources for the first and second readings. We have chosen an approach in which we put emphasis on quality, on additional measures for the teachers who make efforts to get didactic ranks and to improve the teaching ways,’’ the minister emphasized.

The official also said that, during the 2025 year, the authorities would try to identify additional resources to back the teachers.

The last increase in the teachers’ salaries was enforced on 1 January 2024, when they grew by 15 per cent. At the same time, in October 2023, the teachers benefited from a one-off payment of 5,000 lei and the non-didactic staff – from a one-off payment of 3,000 lei.
