Moldovan parliament makes amendments to criminal procedure code

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - The aggrieved party, the plaintiff claiming damages will have right to take the floor at court discussions. A draft law on the completion of Moldova’s Criminal Procedure Code was passed in the final reading with the votes of 79 lawmakers today.
Under the draft, the parties involved in actions at law will have right to take the floor during discussions. Earlier, only prosecutors, lawyers and the defendant were benefitting from this right. They can take the floor once again in form of retort.
The authors of legislative amendments say that the completion of the Criminal Procedure Code was aimed at settling the deficiencies established by the Constitutional Court on 9 March 2017, through the clear regulation in the concerned article of the rights of the aggrieved party, the plaintiff claiming the damages and the responsible party in the civil suit to give their opinion on the civil action.
