Chisinau, 16 February /MOLDPRES/- It is regrettable what is happening in the medical system. Every day we see cases of corruption and violations of the law, actions that we condemn and must be prevented. State secretary of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection Boris Gilca made the statement in an interview for MOLDPRES.
Doctors should not forget the oath and the dignity, as all violations come to be exposed and the image of the entire medical system suffers.
“There is a code of ethics for doctors and pharmacists, but it is poorly known and implemented. It is everyone’s responsibility to make order in work”, Gilca said.
He said that some cases of corruption in the health care system take place with the involvement of small pharmaceutical companies. Their employees, for lack of buyers, corrupt doctors to stay on the market.
Health employees, suspected of corruption, weekly fall into the hands of law enforcement bodies. Recently, 20 people, including 12 healthcare workers and 8 representatives of pharmaceutical companies in Chisinau were detained by anticorruption officers suspected of illegal drug trafficking.
The same case also comprised the actions of members of the council for subsidized medicines from compulsory health insurance funds that would have included or maintained certain pharmaceutical products in the list of compensated medicines, which was done contrary to the law. Some representatives of the Pharmaceutical Inspectorate of the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency are suspected of complicity with the major pharmaceutical companies. They are suspected of being provided pharmaceutical companies with information on the spot checks due to be performed by the agency.
