Moldovan Democrats ask regional organisations from Chisinau, Balti to come up with analysis on situation in municipalities

Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/- Resignation of mayors from Balti and Chisinau, even if late, is a welcome one. The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) requested regional organizations in Chisinau and Balti within one week to come up with an analysis outlining the expectations of residents of the two municipalities. Subsequently, the party will come up with a position on participation in local elections. PDM spokesman Vitalie Gamurari made the statements at the end of the weekly meeting of Democrats.

According to Gamurari, after the two resignations, citizens will be able to choose mayors to exercise properly their duty.

“PDM appreciated, even if late, this gesture by the two mayors, for the simple reason that both municipalities over the last years have been involved in several things that are not beneficial to citizens: chaos, political interests, corruption”, he said.

He added that PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc asked the territorial organizations to come up with an analysis of expectations and problems faced by the residents of the two municipalities.

Late last week, the Chisinau mayor, temporarily suspended, Dorin Chirtoaca, resigned. Also, the Balti municipal council took note of the resignation of the Balti mayor Renato Usatii, who is in international search.
