Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers endorsed positively the legislative initiative to cancel provision on removal of registration plates from illegally parked vehicles, at its today meeting. Thus, there will be overcome the difficulties faced by drivers in case of registration numbers’ removal, the government communication and protocol department has reported.
The draft provides for repeal of paragraph 7 of article 439 of the Contravention Code of Moldova, according to which patrol inspectors remove license plate from illegally parked vehicles, which are returned to the owner only after the minutes of the offence have been drawn up. Consequently, drivers can not travel by that car until they recover their plates, being forced to use the car evacuation services or identify the inspector which removed registration numbers.
Given that the national patrol inspectorate (INP) has an effective mechanism for sanctioning drivers who illegally park, without having to remove registration plates; it is considered appropriate to remove these provisions.
It is provided a fine of 5 – 10 conventional units with two penalty points, for stopping, stationing or parking in forbidden places.
