Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leanca today summed up his working visit to Romania on 19-21 February.
The official said he had meetings with representatives of the parliament and government of Romania, as well as with the opposition.
“The visit focused on several dimensions: the bilateral relation, European agenda of Moldova and Romania’s role in the European integration of our country. I agreed with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Teodor Melescanu to re-launch the work of the intergovernmental commissions on the European integration, we mean the transfer of experience that Romania has accumulated. The governments of both banks of the Prut have a duty to boost their relations, especially, this year we mark the 100th anniversary of the Great Union”, he said.
At the same time, the official noted that the next goals on the European agenda had been approached. “We focused on several projects, first of all, on the gas interconnection between Moldova and Romania. Thus, the gas pipeline built up to Ungheni is to be extended to Chisinau. We exchanged views on the electricity and bridges issue. A big problem is that we have not been able to restore at least one bridge yet. We also discussed labor issues and the possibility to sign a bilateral labor agreement so that our citizens can legally work in Romanian settlements near Moldova”, Leanca said.
The official pointed out that currently there are ongoing 46 projects supported by the Romanian government. “The problem is that little is known about this. We have to take action so that the citizen of Moldova knows who our friends are and where the support comes from. We also talked about the money not used from the 100-million euro-grant, I mean about 60 million”, he said.
Leanca paid a three-day working visit to Bucharest. This is the second official visit as deputy premier for European integration, the first being in Brussels.
