Moldovan MPs reject simple motion filed against economics minister

Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/ - A simple motion on the domestic policy in the economy sector, carried out by the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, led by Chiril Gaburici, was rejected by the lawmakers today. The motion was filed by the parliamentary faction of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) at a plenary meeting on 15 February 2018, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
After the unveiling of the report, question and answer session, the MPs turned down the simple motion on the domestic policy in the economy sector, carried out by the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, led by Chiril Gaburici. Nobody of the 51 lawmakers present at the meeting backed the motion.
According to data presented by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, Moldova’s economic growth was of about four per cent in 2017. “The average salary on the economy has been increasing by over 30 per cent in the last two years, from 4,611 lei in late 2015 to 6,150 lei, as calculated on average for 2018. The salaries in medicine have increased; the wages in education have grown. Pensions increased as well - by ten per cent in 2016 and by seven per cent in 2017, just as the one-off child-birth allowance and other aids and forms of support for citizens increased. Investments grew in 2017 as well, including the state budget investments by 34 per cent.” Andrian Candu said.
The motion refers, in particular, to the carrying out a parliamentary control over the work of the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, revision by decrease of the quantum of taxes and ensuring modernization in industry, agriculture and infrastructure. Also, decision-makers asked for an analysis of tariffs for public utilities, natural gas and other tariffs.
Under the legislative procedure, for a simple motion to be backed, the votes of the majority of the MPs present in the session hall are necessary.
