Normal winter conditions in Moldova

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/- At present, the traffic in the country is in winter conditions and no part of the road is blocked. Over the past 24 hours, over 2,200 tons of anti-slip material have been scattered on the road.
Igor Colesnic, chief specialist of the emergency department of the State Road Administration, said that in the last few hours patrol, snow-clearing and anti-slide works have been carried out. “345 road workers and 179 special machines were trained in the technological process, scattering 2,246 tons of anti-slip material,” he said.
Press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Lilana Puscasu said that the inspectorate did not receive any request for towing or intervention to remove snow-strapped drivers.
According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, last night, the following air temperatures were registered in the country: in the northern area -2 and -3 degrees, centre -1 and -2 degrees and south – 0 and -1. Yesterday, meteorologists announced yellow code for sudden weather change, 25 February – 2 March. However, the yellow code for enhancing ice formation is also valid until 3 March.
Thus, during this period, night temperatures are expected to be -10 -15 degrees, and on 26 February and 1 March -15 -18 degrees.
