Moldovan foreign minister meets with NATO Deputy Secretary General

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ – Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, had a meeting with Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Rose Gottemoeller, at the headquarters of the North Atlantic Alliance, where it was discussed evolution of the relations between Moldova and NATO, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.
The Minister reiterated Moldova’s interest to further strengthen political dialogue and practical cooperation with NATO in accordance with objectives agreed upon within Individual Action Plan of Moldova – NATO Partnership for 2017 – 2019 and based upon principle of constitutional neutrality of Moldova.
The Head of Moldovan diplomacy appreciated the support provided by NATO, especially within the Defence Capacity Building Initiative and Interoperability Platform, as well as inclusion in DCB package of a new area of cooperation on resilience and civilian emergency preparedness. Tudor Ulianovschi highlighted the approach of the national authorities concerned in expanding cooperation with the Alliance by designing new projects that would reflect its non – military benefits. Regarding it, Minister mentioned close cooperation and support provided by the NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau.
Recognizing the interest of both parties in capitalizing on the potential of Moldova – NATO cooperation, officials agreed to continue the bilateral dialogue, including on new cooperation projects.
At her turn, NATO Deputy Secretary General, Rose Gottemoeller, reiterated firm support of NATO for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, noting the Alliance's willingness to continue to provide the necessary expertise and assistance in areas agreed with institutions in Chisinau.
Rose Gottemoeller also appreciated contribution of Moldova to strengthening international stability and security by deploying the Moldovan contingent to the KFOR operation in Kosovo.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, pays a working visit to Brussels, on 25 – 27 February.
