All roads in Moldova passable

Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/- There are winter conditions on the roads in the country, and at present all roads are passable. The head of the State Road Administration’s operation service, Sergiu Capatina, made the statement today.

During last night, 53 trucks and 75 workers were involved in. “Road workers used over306 tons of anti-slip material. At present, all road sectors are monitored, and if necessary, they will intervene”, he said.

Press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Liliana Puscasu said “there was no request for towing or intervention to remove the drivers blocked in the snow”.

Press officer of the National Patrol Inspectorate Natalia Golovco said that currently there are no national roads with traffic interrupted due to weather. “Patrol officers are on all routes in the country to streamline road traffic and not to admit some unpleasant incidents. At the same time, we recommend drivers to keep a greater distance between cars, not to drive at excessive speed and not set off if they do not have a winter-equipped car”, Golovco said.

However, the Customs Service announces that the Vulcanesti customs post temporarily interrupted its activity because of the snow covered route. Traffic restrictions are recorded starting this morning through the Cosauti customs post, after the Soroca post stopped operating.

The head of the State Hydrometeorological Service, Ghenadie Rosca, said that snow will fall throughout the country. “In the coming days, the air temperatures will remain out. The night temperatures will be -10 -16 degrees, and during the day -6 -10 degrees”, Rosca said.

Meteorologists announced today yellow cold code until 3 March. At the same time, the yellow code of ice formation is also valid till 3 March. Heavy snowfall had been recorded in several European countries. Bad weather also affected neighboring countries, including Bulgaria and Romania, where schools, roads and ports were closed.
