Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/- The development of the Moldovan-Romanian relations is a major priority of the Romanian government, and the strategic goal is Moldova’s European integration. Prime Minister of Romania Viorica Dancila made the statement at a news conference jointly held with Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip.
The two officials announced that the meeting focused on the bilateral talks, joint projects, deepening partnerships, implementing reforms and European agenda.
“This visit is very important, as Romania has been and remains the most consistent supporter of our country in implementing the reform agenda. The discussion was constructive and sincere. We talked about providing support in continuing bilateral projects. We also approached the internal situation and appreciated the high level of bilateral relations, describing them as excellent”, Filip said.
Filip said that during the bilateral talks, it was decided to hold a joint meeting between the Moldovan-Romanian governments in Chisinau, due in the first half of this year.
“We also welcomed the arrival of the Transilvania bank from Romania and Transgaz Romania on the national market. For us, energy security is extremely important, as we will diversify in this way the import sources of gas. We also discussed the construction of the bridges between the two states. I thanked for minibuses to transport pupils, renovating kindergartens, scholarships for young people and other projects. We greatly appreciate Romania’s support, I mean the loan of 150 million euros. I also notice the trade exchange between the two states, Romania being the main investor in Moldova. I am sure that our cooperation will be even better and the common goals will be achieved”, Filip said.
The Romanian official noted that the relationship between the two states is a special one, as Moldova is an important partner for Romania.
“I am glad to be in Chisinau for the first time. It is the first visit as Prime Minister, which shows my attachment to Moldova. Today we had several discussions on the ongoing projects and Moldova’s European agenda. An important topic was related to the extension of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline to Chisinau, whereby Romania reconfirmed its role as a major partner. My country wants to increase investments in Moldova, therefore, we welcome the progress made in energy projects, I mean including Transgaz Romania in the market here. We will continue to invest in education, culture, financial sphere, economy for the benefit of citizens. At the same time, we welcome the organization of the joint meeting of the two governments where we will discuss joint projects and the bilateral agenda”, Dancila said.
Dancila pays an official visit to Chisinau. The official will also meet Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu. She was appointed last month, after former Prime Minister Mihai Tudose has resigned.
