Democrats’ party to launch new infrastructure project on roads rehabilitation in Moldova

Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ – One of the largest infrastructure projects in recent years: Good Roads for Moldova will be launched in Moldova. The announcement was made today by the leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Vlad Plahotniuc, at the end of the weekly meeting of the party.
According to Plahotniuc, only 1,200 kilometers of roads across the country will be built or repaired in 2018.
"There will be rebuild roads in every village, regardless of the political colour of the local mayor. During the meeting, we analyzed which to be most effective way to support Government, so that this large national project has all the resources needed to achieve it. Our ultimate goal is to offer Moldova a new growth potential: good roads will allow villages to be upgraded," said the head of Democrats.
He specified that local roads would be repaired initially, after which districts would be transferred.
"We have today invited our colleagues from the Government, which are in charge of this field, to present the stage of project and discuss political support. I assure you that PDM and ruling coalition have capacity and determination to lead the project. The project is a promise that we, the ruling party, did to our citizens," said Plahotniuc.
According to statistical data, public road network in the Republic of Moldova is 12,719 km, out of which 87 per cent are paved. Out of these, 3,669 km form national roads, and 6,834 km are local roads.
