Over 140 special machines used in road cleaning in Moldova

Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ – Moldova trails under winter conditions and more than 140 heavy machinery work to remove snow from the road and to scatter anti – skid material.

The head of the Operational Service of State Road Administration, Sergiu Capatina, specified for the agency that with intensification of precipitation in the form of snow, which included districts: Vulcanesti, Comrat, Ceadar – Lunga, Taraclia, Cahul, Cantemir, Leova, Cimislia, Hincesti, Ialoveni, Basarabeasca, Causeni, Stefan Voda, Anenii Noi, Criuleni, Straseni, Nisporeni and Orhei, road companies started road patrols, snow clearing and fighting slipperiness.

"Road sections that pose a greater danger to winter road traffic are monitored jointly with representatives of national patrol inspectorate (INP). As required, heavy trucks that are not equipped with winter equipment are temporarily stopped in order to safely carry out snow removal operations, as well as to prevent certain impediments or blockages," said Capatina.

According to the quoted source, at 14:00, over 30 heavy trucks were temporarily stationed on verges near Anenii Noi.

"In localities Ciobanovca and Troita Noua, 28 heavy units were towed by the roadmaster to move them to the destination point. Now, 149 special equipment that scattered 1,145 tons of anti – skid material and 191 road workers are trained in the technological process," said Capatina.

The City Hall of Chisinau announced that during the entire day, 23 Exdrupo Excavators are trained to clean the streets and scatter non – slip material. Also, housing and communal administration intervenes with 40 workshops and 400 workers for cleaning of sidewalks, public transport stops and adjacent blocks – of – flats.

The IGSU press officer, Liliana Puscasu, told the agency that until four o'clock the soldiers unlocked four cars and a truck in which there were more persons. "The rescuers intervened to unlock cars in Vulcanesti and Causeni. Other operations of rescuers and firefighters have not been recorded, but the teams are still prepared to help the citizens who are in danger. The situation will be further monitored and citizens are urged to call emergency services if necessary," said Puscasu.

Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, convened an emergency meeting with the Government in connection with the unfavorable weather situation today. The Prime Minister called for permanent communication and effective interaction between authorities in charge, so as to prevent crisis situations.

Meteorologists announced the yellow code of cold today, with a range of action until 03 March. At the same time, until 3 March, it is also valid yellow code for intensification of ice formation.
