Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/ – The Government's notice on legislative initiative to abolish provision for removal of registration plates from illegally parked vehicles was published today in the Official Journal of Moldova.
The draft supported by the Cabinet of Ministers provides for repeal of paragraph 7 of Art. 439 of the Contravention Code of Moldova, according to which patrol inspectors were entitled to remove registration plates from illegally parked vehicles, which were returned to the owner only after the minutes of offences were drawn up.
Thus, after removing the licence plates, drivers are unable to drive by until they recover their plates, being forced to use car evacuation services or identify inspector which issued removal of registration numbers.
For staying or parking in forbidden places, national law provides for a fine of up to MDL 500 and two penalty points.
