Law regulating activity of day labourers promulgated and to be published in Official Journal of Moldova

Chisinau, 01 March /MOLDPRES/ – The promulgation decree and the Law on exercise of unqualified occasional activities, conducted by day – labourers, will be published in the issue of Official Journal of Moldova on 02 March.
The document was promulgated by the head of state, Igor Dodon, after the Parliament maintained its vote on 23 February 2018.
According to the new law, day – labourers can run activities for the same beneficiary for no more than 90 days in a calendar year, and work time will not exceed 40 hours per week.
The payment for activity of tenant will take place at the end of each working day, according to the agreement between beneficiary and tenant. Also, salary may be granted weekly in the case of an agreement in writing by the person and beneficiary. The day – labourer has obligation to be part of compulsory social insurance and compulsory healthcare system based on individual contracts concluded with the National Social Insurance House (CNAS) and National Healthcare Insurance Company (CNAM).
According to new provisions, persons which will engage day – labourers will be obliged to maintain an Evidence Register, where to register all persons and then transmit extract to the Territorial Labour Inspectorate (ITM).
This law shall enter into force on expiration of six months from the date of its publication in Official Journal of Moldova. During this period, the Government will bring its normative acts in line with provisions of the law and submit to Parliament proposals for bringing legislation in force in accordance with the law.
