New holiday established in Moldova

Chisinau, 01 March /MOLDPRES/ – The decision of Parliament on commemorative days and rest days in Moldova will be completed with a new holiday: Competition Day. The decision of the Legislature in this respect will be published 02 March in the Official Journal.
According to the document voted by MPs, Competition Day will be a working day and will be marked annually on 30 June, day when it was adopted the Law on Protection of Competition in 2000.
The aim of the Parliament is to promote a competitive culture in society and protect consumers’ interests.
The Government shall, within three months from the date of entry into force of decision, submit to Parliament proposals for bringing the legislation into force in accordance with this decision.
In most countries, Competition Day is marked on 05 December. This celebration was introduced in 2010 at UN Conference on Trade and Development to mark the 30th anniversary of adoption of a set of multilateral fair principles and rules agreed to control commercial practices restrictive by UNO General Assembly.
