Child care stay on disabled children extended to two years in Moldova

Chisinau, 01 March /MOLDPRES/ – The employees with children with disabilities will be able to take care stay for up to two years. A draft law amending the Labour Code of Moldova will be published in the Official Journal on 02 March.
Legislative changes come to protect interests of sick children and children with disabilities as well as their parents by offering additional legal opportunities that do not involve distinct spending but which can be of real use in addressing the realities which they face.
The repeal of old provisions will allow, especially for mothers who care for children with special needs, to keep their work for a certain period of time when health status of children may experience improvements and then re – enter work.
Following entry into force of proposed changes, employee which has a sick child or a disabled child will be able to request employer to suspend individual labour contract for up to 2 years under art. 78 of Labour Code, and the employer will be obliged to accept it.
As such, leave to care for a sick member of the family lasts up to one year.
