Veterans to receive new ID cards in Moldova

Chisinau, 01 March /MOLDPRES/ – Commencing 01 April, veterans in Moldova will receive new type of ID cards, according to a Government Decision that will be published in the Official Gazette Moldova on 02 March.
The document aims to re-evaluate the number of citizens who participated in various wars and armed conflicts, as well as increase the degree of safety of act confirming veteran status.
The change of old to new ID cards will be done by stages from 01 April 2018 to 31 December 2020, during which both types of documents will be valid.
New IDs will be issued for 15,000 veterans in 2018, 15 thousand in 2019, and 2020 for 10,000 veterans. As for 2021, therefore, there will be valid only new model veteran cards.
The new ID cards will be issued and made by public services agency (ASP). For 2018, for this purpose, there are planned MDL 525 thousand in budget.
According to the defence ministry’s public relations service, there are currently being identified about 40,000 participants in armed conflicts and military actions, who benefit from war veterans status.
