Director General of World Trade Organization to pay official visit to Moldova

Chisinau, 01 March /MOLDPRES/ – Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, presented today the commitments undertaken by Moldova within world trade system, discussed extensively during the official meeting with the Director General of the World Trade Organization, Roberto Azevêdo.
According to MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and interaction service, Director General thanked Minister Tudor Ulianovschi for his active involvement into process of facilitating negotiations for Ministerial Declaration in Buenos Aires in December 2017, requesting further involvement of the Minister in advancing dialogue with developing and underdeveloped countries in the field of e-commerce and small and medium-sized enterprises.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi underlined Moldova’s commitment to implementing WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement and National Trade Facilitation Action Plan adopted by Government of Moldova in December 2017. Referred to it, Minister appreciated opening of WTO for provision of technical assistance of Moldova as to train civil servants from Moldova and facilitate the dialogue of Moldova and main development partners of the world trade system for obtaining financial assistance in process of implementing 91 measures adopted into National Action Plan, facilitation of border controls and creation of an integrated system on import – export requirements, ensuring activity of info points, increasing transparency in internal procedures and strengthening info systems.
Following invitation of Minister Tudor Ulianovschi, General Director, Roberto Azevêdo, will pay an official visit to Moldova in 2018. On occasion of spring start, General Director of the World Trade System proudly wore Martisor, a symbol of spring included in patrimony of UNESCO, which was offered by Minister Ulianovschi at the end of the meeting in Geneva.
